The night that Caleb had been waiting for arrived last night: Eurovision 2005. Many of us stayed up way too late watching the song competition. Greece actually won with a song we have been hearing everywhere during the trip, Elena Paparizou’s “My Number One.” The winning country hosts the next year’s competition, so Caleb vowed to be in Greece to see it next year.
Some of us presented oral reports on the boat to Paros, while others presented theirs in a café near the beach. These are presentation venues we’d never get to use at Dartmouth!
Peter’s bad luck at the beach continues: After a week and a half nursing the blisters and peeling from a bad Samian sunburn, he ventured back to the beach today fully equipped with sunblock. Sunblock, however, was no match for the sea urchins underfoot in the rocks he scrambled over to meet up with the group. Peter has started to wonder if this is somehow a sign, but concedes that it is likely just a run of bad luck.
