We were all excited to start this trip to the islands, as we’ve all been craving some sand and some sun. We arrived on the island and were greeted with a sunny day and blue skies. Professor Rutter had to do some wheeling and dealing with his Greek skills to get us the cabs we needed to get to our hotel and Akrotiri, but we got to both places relatively quickly. The group carried bathing suits to Akrotiri, but unfortunately, the beach at the site was a little chilly, extremely rocky and, as Caleb said, the water looked like chocolate milk due to all the seaweed. Instead, we went to a picturesque taverna right on the beach and had a nice relaxing meal. Tonight, some of us may go to a café above the caldera to take in the Santorini sunset. We look forward to another nice day on this island tomorrow.
