The girls, at least, were pleasantly surprised to find that Nutella and chocolate milk were available for consumption during breakfast. Jackie, in particular, took delight in spreading Nutella over everything on her plate. After polishing off breakfast, we hit the road to Metéora. The group enjoyed the time they spent in the various monasteries that we visited today. There were some truly breathtaking views. Unfortunately, the group was not able to take pictures of the beautiful wall paintings decorating the chapels of the monasteries. Some of the girls had a more memorable time than others at the Great Metéron since they were confronted with their old friend, the squatty-potty.

Napping has been today’s chief task – either that or else finding amusement from books, music, random media files on people’s computers, or just the beautiful scenery of the areas we were passing through.

Though we were told it would be a four hour long drive to Thessaloniki, it turned out to be much longer. Most of the group didn’t seem to mind, as they were either knocked out or were engaged in other activities like singing songs from the South Park movie. We made a brief stop at Mieza to check out the site of Aristotle’s school. We passed by a trash dump on the way, prompting Caleb to remark that it was where the Agora dumped its pottery sherds. Ben called it one of his top-five sites and most of the group had fun exploring the caves, though Caleb felt the need to clap for snakes and look out for bats. We then boarded the bus once again and made the final trek to Thessaloniki.
We had to make a really complicated turn with the bus shortly after this and Professor Rutter was forced to run around the bus and gesticulate wildly in order to direct our bus driver. We were very amused.
