Final Comments: March 27

When you think of the architecture of London, what do you think of? Most likely soaring churches, beautiful old buildings, and temple-like museums, right? Well, my friends, that’s not the only kind of architecture you’ll see in London. During our walk from the Tube station to the Museum of London, we had to go through this weird futuristic part of London no one in the group knew existed. It was all elevated walkways with weird futuristic restaurants, a large central lake with a sunken gardens, and apartment buildings high above the water decorated by hanging plants. We didn’t know the Jetsons lived in London! Plus, the oddness was increased by the fact that there was no one around at all. That undoubtedly had to do with it being the afternoon of Easter, but it made it feel like a horror/post-apocalyptic movie (such as 28 Days Later).
Other Miscellanea:
Ben’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Silverman are wonderful, very friendly, and funny, especially since they brought us Easter candy!
Prof. Rutter lies – he’ll tell you can get food, then cruelly retract that promise to the horror of our poor emaciated stomachs
Museums for kids are fun!
Music from the Early Stuart period is terrible – avoid it at all costs! (Talk to Caleb about this for further details)
Happy Easter!
