Options for Brief Written Assessment (One to Two Paragraphs) on What Made One or More of Today’s Sites Memorable or Noteworthy for You: (A) How did seeing the environmental setting of the sites you visited today give you an altered or enhanced appreciation of those sites from what you may already have known about them from the guidebook or being introduced to them in one or more courses you may have taken in Hanover? (B) You had been told [X] or [Y] about a particular site’s significance by the guidebook or someone else ahead of time, but what really ended up striking you about the site was [Z] . . . That is, what about a specific site on today’s itinerary took you by surprise and why? (C) If you were a Greek, you would value this site especially because . . . .? That is, how can you imagine a particular site that you saw today being a source of particular pride for a native descendant of the culture that put this site on the archaeological, historical, or ethnographic map? (D) Much of the impact that a particular archaeological site or museum exhibit has on visitors depends on how it is put on show – that is, how it is displayed and explained to a typically non-specialist audience.
