The group left the Hotel Apollon in Siteia at 8:00 in the morning and arrived in Matala at 7:45, just barely missing the twelve-hour mark. A quick dip in the water at Malata helped cool off our aching ankles after a day of hikes. On the car ride to Matala after the tiring hike, the group ravaged the bread, cheese and jam, stuffing ourselves with soft floury goodness. The only thing better than the snack and the beach at Matala was the luxurious room arrangement the group has for our lone night in the small coastal town. Triples are in fact two rooms: a double and a single (which actually has two beds). We think the group will sleep soundly tonight, knowing that they will not have to crawl through fields of nettles or stumble over sheep fences tomorrow, or so we think. We never know for sure.
