Mycenae in the early morning is quite peaceful and beautiful. We communed with the ruins of the ancient civilization. As the sun rises in the sky, buses loom in on the beautiful site releasing hordes of German, French, English, and French tourists. They are more frightening than the Doric invaders centuries before. Armed with loud and obnoxious accents, the tourists scale the defenseless fortifications of the Mycenaean site.
Apart from the horrendous tourists, the day was filled with other perils. After climbing the Acropolis of Midea, we came down to find Dimitri greased up looking at a seemingly broken down bus. Also, at Dendra, a dog crawled out of a tomb which made Caleb almost wet himself, but then it growled at all of us and we left quickly.
